Infringement Response Ladder
- Document: Capture screenshots, URLs, and timestamps of the infringing content immediately.
- Report: Submit an infringement report through the hosting platform and file a DMCA takedown notice.
- Follow Up: Record case and reference numbers; confirm removal or escalation status.
- Cease & Desist: Send a formal cease and desist letter if platform actions are insufficient.
- Legal Action: Escalate to an intellectual property attorney for litigation or settlement when necessary.
Platform-Specific Infringement Reporting
If you discover SGS content being used without authorization on any of the platforms below, follow these steps and notify us at legal@sheargeniussociety.com with the infringing URL so we can track and escalate the case.
YouTube
SGS video content is registered with Content ID. For videos not caught automatically, file a copyright takedown at youtube.com/copyright_complaint_form. Select “Copyright” as the issue type and identify the specific SGS work being infringed. YouTube must respond within 5–7 business days.
Instagram & Facebook (Meta)
Use Meta’s IP Report Center at facebook.com/help/contact/634636770043106 to report unauthorized use of SGS images, videos, or branded content on Instagram or Facebook.
TikTok
File a copyright report through TikTok’s IP Policy portal at tiktok.com/legal/report/Copyright. Include the TikTok video URL and a description of the SGS work being used without authorization.
Submit a copyright claim through Pinterest’s reporting tool at help.pinterest.com. SGS station card images and anatomy diagrams are frequently targeted on Pinterest.
Teachers Pay Teachers / Educational Marketplaces
If SGS curriculum, station cards, or board prep materials appear on TPT or similar educator marketplaces, email the platform’s trust and safety team directly with proof of SGS ownership (screenshots, file metadata, or a link to the original SGS content). Also email legal@sheargeniussociety.com immediately — these cases are treated as high-priority commercial infringement.
Websites & Blogs
Use the hosting provider’s DMCA agent (findable via dmca.com/lookup) to submit a takedown notice, or send directly to legal@sheargeniussociety.com and we will initiate the takedown on your behalf.
Notice to Licensed Educators & Partner Schools
Cosmetology schools, barber schools, esthetics programs, and nail technology programs that have entered into a licensing agreement with Shear Genius Society, Ltd Co. are authorized to use SGS curriculum materials strictly within the scope of their agreement. Licensed use does not include:
- Distributing SGS materials to students outside the licensed institution
- Posting SGS content to any public website, social media page, or learning management system accessible to non-enrolled individuals
- Modifying, rebranding, or removing SGS watermarks or copyright notices from any material
- Sub-licensing SGS content to any third party
- Using SGS content after a licensing agreement has expired or been terminated
Violations of a licensing agreement are treated as copyright infringement and will be pursued accordingly. For licensing inquiries, contact legal@sheargeniussociety.com.
